Separate operational data (inventory, throughput, supplier metrics) from sensitive personal or biometric information.
3. Inference Governance
Treat algorithmic inference with the same scrutiny as raw data collection. Predictive insights can be as sensitive as direct inputs.
4. Transparency and Explainability
Enterprise AI systems must be auditable, explainable, and contractually governed — particularly in multi-party supply networks.
AI as a Competitive Advantage — If Governed Correctly
Used responsibly, AI can create extraordinary value in supply chain ecosystems:
- 20–30% reduction in inventory holding costs
- Improved service levels through predictive planning
- Lower carbon footprint via route and load optimization
- Faster disruption response through real-time analytics
